Charlotte hummed a bit as the light from outside the blinds vanished when she touched the door knob, giving him a little glance, "Well you might cross paths with them soon enough or again. And as for how I figure out the timing...I just need to listen for the music."
That was probably a slightly unhelpful answer, but one she knew would make sense pretty soon.
"...Oh and you might want to brace yourself." She warned him rather late as the gravity in the cafe was felt lurching forward and then down, making a passing weightless feeling that had her long hair floating and her draconic features glowing. Light also began to flood in through the cracks of the blinds, almost like searchlights, before they all settled down on the door. This is also when some faint music could be heard outside the door, distant and muffled, but very much there.
Charlotte bobbed her head back and forth to the rhythm with the song next, humming it softly, as the light on the door shifted through sunrise to sunset a few times. She only turned the doorknob when that light hit the twilight before sunset, causing all the windows to gain that warm light to be peeking through as well. In the next moment she then opened the door, the gravity inside the cafe going back to mostly normal; if not a little weaker than what it was before.
Outside the door was streets with mixed paving of cobblestone and bricks, and a tram passing by between the tight buildings. There was also a nearly impossible looking clock tower with bells looming over the whole town, looking nearly ready to chime with the hands of the clock inching towards the next hour.
Charlotte was already skipping outside the door ahead of Zech, stretching her arms over her head, "...I remembered partway through travel that Twilight Town has the ice cream specialty. Traverse Town is pretty too, but not what you're after. Honestly this place is a web of trouble to make sense of sometimes with how often its connections get rebuilt in different ways."
She turned around to keep an eye on him, waiting for him to come out so she could lock the door. None of the humans outside seemed to bat an eye at her draconic features, or that they didn't quite notice her yet. She seemed relaxed enough not to hide it that it was likely the former more than anything.
"Didn't exactly have a tour guide. I think I might've just wandered around until I was found. There was, ah... This girl I had become friends with, I think." His forehead visibly wrinkles a bit from the furrowing of his dark brows, his eyelids squinting as he wracks his brain over trying to dredge to the surface far-distant memories. A sentiment terribly bittersweet rings in the furthest reaches of his heart as he tries and fails to recall a particular person. Definitely not a lover or anything romantic involved in that relationship, but someone he still cared dearly for all the same. Another case of drifting apart... Or maybe being abandoned?
"...It doesn't matter." Zech eventually dismisses the train of thought with a frown. "All that matters is, that's a place that's familiar to me." Although he can't be sure if that's simply a dismissal out of convenience or because some part of him truly didn't want to remember the specifics of that memory in particular.
Charlotte pulls him from his thoughts with a phrase that, by the sound of things, must be commonplace within those realms. Immediately, his features shift back to a more neutral, sheepish surprise and confusion as he glances at her, then searches his recollections for a moment.
"No, I don't believe I ever heard that said before." He rolls his shoulders in a shrug. "Maybe I just never met the people prone to saying it?"
The saying does faintly bring to mind a boy he could have sworn he'd crossed paths with at least once, but that was just a meeting in passing. At a glance, he seemed like the sort of kid that such a saying might apply to, though, or at least Zech couldn't help but think so.
On another note entirely, he recalls that the reason he put emphasis on realizing that Charlotte could journey between worlds at will, and in such convenient fashion, meant that she could potentially return him to his home if she so wished... Maybe. The prospect was quite enticing, but, when that happened, it would be an end to everything. No more wandering. No more anomalous existence. Even their current meeting would be cut short, and though she would have the capability to visit him at any time, he couldn't imagine obligating someone like her just to stop by every now and then to pay him a visit.
...Maybe it would be better to shelve that idea for the time being.
Zech rises from his seat at her gesturing and follows her over to the door, like he's simply going with the flow of things and going with her lead. "I'm about as ready as I can be, all things considered. Actually... How are you able to figure out the timing on that one anyway?"
